Own a Piece of History!
Here is an immaculately hand-carved Egyptian heart scarab. Hieroglyphics cover both sides of the swirled green faience piece, blending perfectly with the classic Egyptian design. For the ancient Egyptians, the heart was not only the center of life, but also of thinking, memory, and moral values. Therefore, the heart needed to be protected.
Heart scarabs were very popular amulets, particularly in funerary settings. Often placed with the dead, these amulets held a protective spell on the flat side to stop their hearts from betraying them as they entered the afterlife.
This antique Egyptian heart scarab was attested as made by Egyptians in Egypt during the “Grand Tour/Egyptian Revival” period (1780s-1930s).by Mr Matthew Wicks of Ancient Hands LTD, and accompanied by a signed “Provenance & Ownership” document.
