Vintage Balinese Rosewood Statue | The Weeping Buddha

This Art Deco styled Balinese "Weeping Buddha" statue is made of exquisitely hand-carved and polished Rosewood. The sculpture is in good condition for its age (c. 1970s) and has maintained its integrity, however there is one thin crack along its upper back.

The Weeping Buddha displays the pain Buddha feels for the suffering of the world, and his angst for the persistent sorrow in our lives. Rubbing the Buddha statue's back purports to give peace and strength, take away pain, and acts as a source of happiness and joy.
